General questions
Why are proteins so important?
Alika Nutrition provides healthy essential nutrients, in the form of premium protein-rich mixes, to maintain or improve the functional capacity of our body and especially our muscle mass where necessary. For example, to counteract age-related muscle deterioration (sarcopenia), a daily optimal protein intake is recommended.
Why add a protein shake, high-protein baking mix or protein powder?
The advantages of the Protein Plus or the Protein shake are clear: easy to take with you, ready-made and no hassle about what to eat. A baking mix needs water and heat to prepare the product (it only takes a few minutes) but the big advantage is that you can supplement this mix with fruit or vegetables for breakfast, lunch or dinner and prepare both sweet and savory pancakes, waffles, donuts, bubble waffles, ... With our products you can compose a nutritious and varied meal according to personal taste.
Alika Nutrition's protein-rich products are free from artificial sweeteners and colorants, have a high quantitative and qualitative protein content and are low in saturated fatty acids! All essential amino acids are present in a more than sufficient quantity without excess so that the absorption of all these building blocks by our body cells can take place optimally without mutual competition where an excess of one amino acid could inhibit the absorption of the other.
In addition, there is ongoing research in the scientific literature on the relationship between chewing and cognition (intellect) in which a causal relationship is assumed. The consistency of food seems important to support healthier aging.
Are the products gluten free?
All our protein shakes are gluten free. Other products such as the pancake mix and the Protein Plus are currently not gluten free.
Use of our protein-rich products
How to make a protein shake?
You can make the shake in a regular shaker but also in a blender. In a blender you can also add fruit such as a banana, strawberries or raspberries.
The best result is obtained by first adding water to a cup and adding the protein mix. An average ratio is 150ml water in combination with 30gr protein mix. If desired, you can also use extra water so that you have a more diluted result (e.g. 175ml in combination with 30gr mix).
If you have trouble manually mixing the mix and the water, you can always use a blender ball. This ensures a more easily dissolution of the mix in the water. The blender ball may only be used when shaking manually and therefore not in an electric blender or mixer.
What temperature should the water be for the protein shake?
The solubility of proteins in, for example, water depends on various factors such as the type of protein, the hardness or the temperature of the water.
The protein mix will dissolve faster with room temperature water and slightly slower with water from the refrigerator or tap.
After combining the shake and water, shake vigorously for a good result.
How to use our pancake mix?
With our protein-rich pancake mix, you add the amount of water to make pancakes. This is stated on the packaging and you can also adjust it to your own preference. For example, by adding a little more water if you want a finer pancake. Then you beat the mix and the water together well (manually or with a mixer, this gives an even better result). You are now ready to bake.
What is the recommended frequency and amount of protein intake?
It is important to realize that the daily amount of protein to be taken is not so much a % of the calorie intake but an absolute number. This depends on the personal situation and activity.
For example, for an active adult with normal kidney function, this is between 1.5 and 2g per kg body weight per day, based on literature data.
What is the time interval between which it is best to have a protein meal after a workout?
For beginners, the greatest effect is within 2h post-training. For well-trained individuals (>6 months) there is little difference in muscle mass and strength between intake within 2 hours post-training and divided over 3 to 4 meals per day.

Currently we ship all orders from the webshop only in Belgium. Contact us directly for international shipments.
What is the shipping time?
Normally you will receive your order within a few days.
How much does shipping cost?
From an order of €60 we ship your package for free. For orders under €60 there is a shipping cost. You can find this in the ordering process. In addition, we deliver for free in the following postcodes (9830, 9831, 9840, 9031 and 9051).
